BREWSTER - Four people were injured in a four-vehicle crash June 8 about 2.1 miles north of Brewster on U.S. Highway 97.
Samuel McKee, 51, Brewster, was northbound around 4:40 p.m. when he slowed to turn into a residence, the Washington State Patrol said. The vehicle behind him, driven by Miranda Garza Trevino, 16, Bridgeport, slowed and was struck in the rear by a vehicle driven by Kayla L. Cargile, 16, Omak.
Cargile said she was distracted by an animal in her car, the patrol said. Her vehicle pushed Trevino's vehicle into McKee's vehicle.
Cargile's vehicle then entered the southbound lane and collided with one driven by Margarito Perez Sanchez, 36, Bridgeport. Her vehicle rolled over into the southbound ditch.
Cargile suffered a possible rib injury. Her vehicle was destroyed.
Sanchez suffered a possible left femur and left pelvis injury. Her vehicle was destroyed.
A passenger in Sanchez's vehicle, Adolfo Villa Gutierrez, 56, Bridgeport, suffered rib and possible neck or back injuries.
Trevino suffered a possible back injury. Her vehicle was destroyed.
McKee was not injured. His vehicle, which received about $3,000 damage, was driven from the scene.
All the injured were transported by ambulance to Okanogan-Douglas District Hospital in Brewster.
All those involved were using restraints, the patrol said.
