OROVILLE - An Oroville Police officer was injured when his patrol vehicle struck a cow nine miles south of town on U.S. Highway 97 at 1:30 a.m. June 24.
     Christopher B. Patterson, 30, Oroville, was listed in critical condition at Deaconess Medical Center, Spokane. He was airlifted there for treatment of head trauma, the Washington State Patrol said.
     Okanogan County Sheriff Frank Rogers said Patterson was on his way back to Oroville after dropping off a prisoner at the county jail.
     The patrol investigated the accident, but Rogers said his officers were there, too.
     Patterson’s patrol vehicle was destroyed.
