CONCONULLY - If bulls seem to be a bit skittish these days, it's probably because the Cowboy Caviar Fete is set to roll June 27.
The town's three restaurants - Lucky D's Restaurant and Lounge, Sit-n-Bull Bar and Grill and the Tamarack Saloon - will create different preparation and presentations of bull testicles for daring diners from 1-5 p.m.
Regular menu items will be available for the less adventurous, a Conconully Chamber of Commerce announcement said.
Recipes are being kept secret until the day of the event, the announcement said.
A Hall Mall runs from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Conconully Community Hall, and features Western art, apparel and accessories. Cowboy Caviar Fete tickets, at $12 apiece, will be sold at the chamber booth at the hall.
Diners will vote on their favorite testy treats and turn in their ballots to the chamber booth.
A hot dog-eating competition will be at 5 p.m., with divisions for adults and children. The entry fee is $5. Top finishers will get cash prizes.
Duck races will be on Salmon Creek at 6 p.m. Winners will get cash prizes there, too.
At 7 p.m., the event's winning restaurant will be announced and presented with the Balls to the Wall award, the announcement said.
At 7 p.m., rancher Buzz Berney will narrate an Okanogan County Historical Society production at the hall on cattle ranching in the late 1800s and early 1900s. The presentation is free and sponsored by the Conconully Area Historical Association and Museum.
The event is organized by the chamber and chaired by Tami Cochran.
