SEATTLE - A 27-year-old Spokane woman, reported missing earlier in the week after leaving her vehicle on a ferry, was reunited with her family June 25.
Amy Story, who was reported missing the afternoon of June 21, was located by the Lake Forest Park Police Department.
Police were dispatched around 12:30 p.m. to Ballinger Way and 35th Avenue N.E. to check the welfare of an woman who was seen walking in the street hitchhiking.
Sgt. J. Becker contacted the woman at the Lake Forest Park Market, the Washington State Patrol said.
The woman told Becker her car had been stolen from a ferry and identified herself as Amy Story. Becker determined she was the person reported missing from the Washington State Ferry M/V Tacoma.
Becker reunited Story with family members, who were staying in a local motel, the patrol said.
The Washington State Patrol acknowledged assistance from the public and law enforcement in locating Story and reuniting her with her family.
