WENATCHEE – Wenatchee Valley College officials are seeking public comment on the college’s qualifications as an accredited institution.
The college will be visited by a team of evaluators Oct. 14-16 as part of its institutional accreditation process.
WVC has been continuously accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities since 1948, and mostly recently was reaffirmed after a focused interim visit in April 2008, a college announcement said.
WVC is one of four colleges participating in a pilot project to implement revised standards and processes for institutional accreditation from NWCCU. The October visit will evaluate WVC’s response to two revised standards.
A second visit, in October 2010, will address three more standards and complete the comprehensive evaluation process.
Comments about WVC’s qualifications as an accredited institution may be sent directly to the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities, 8060 165th Ave. N.E., Suite 100, Redmond 98052; phone 425-558-4224.
The deadline for sending comments must is Sept. 14. Comments will be forwarded to WVC, evaluation committee members and members of the Commission on Colleges, the announcement said.
More information on the revised standards and process and the full text of the commission’s policy on public notification and third-party comments can be viewed at www.nwccu.org or the NWCCU office.
