Omak baseball nabs third, heads to district playoffs
     Omak High School’s baseball team heads into post-season play with a third place finish in the Caribou Trail League.
     The Pioneers closed out the year being swept by Brewster 12-7 and 14-5 April 29 on the road.
     “Brewster is a great hitting team,” said coach Frank Piscopo. “They got done what they needed to do to win two games decisively.”
     Omak was scheduled to open bi-district play against the Northeast A champ Lakeside at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 6, at Wenatchee High School.
     The winner of the game plays the winner of the Okanogan and Brewster game at 4:30 p.m. at Eastmont the same day.
     The loser plays the loser of the Okanogan and Brewster game in a loser-out game at 4:30 p.m. at Wenatchee High School.
     In the first game against Brewster, Colton Roy pitched five innings, giving up 10 hits and an earned run while striking out six and walking one.
     Daniel Weber pitched one inning, giving up five earned runs on three hits and two walks.
     “They just outhit us mightily,” said Piscopo, whose team was outhit 28-18 in the two games.
     Omak hitting: Brett McCarty 2-4, home run; Juan Garcia 2-3.
     Brewster hitting: J.R. Jarrell 2-3, double, 3 runs, 2 RBI; Gabe Webster 2-3, home run, 3 runs, 3 RBI.
     In the second game, Juan Garcia went three innings, giving up 11 runs on 10 hits while striking out three and walking five.
     Justin Dibble closed the final three innings, giving up three runs on five hits while striking out two and walking two.
     Omak hitting: Chris Lockwood 2-3, home run; Matt Howe 2-4, Garcia 2-3.
     Brewster hitting: Austin Benson 3-3, 3 runs; Jarrell 2-4, double, 3 RBI, 2 runs; Webster 3-4, double, triple, 2 runs, 5 RBI.
