The Tonasket baseball team saw its season come to an end with a doubleheader loss to visiting Lake Roosevelt April 28.
The Tigers lost 7-1 in the first game and 15-1 in five innings in game two.
Jake Grace pitched the complete game for Tonasket in the first game, allowing eight hits while striking out three. Brandon Wahl provided the Tigers with their lone run with an RBI single.
After a promising start to the season - winning three of the first four games -the Tigers lost 15 straight to finish the season with a 3-16 overall record.
“It was a frustrating year and we just couldn’t put hitting and pitching together in the same game,” said coach Steve Williams.
Williams said he was impressed with the way his team played against some of the better teams in the area, particularly Omak and Okanogan.
“We showed flashes of brilliance in those games but we just weren’t able to come through in the end,” said Williams.
Pitcher Grant Leavell and catcher Daniel Montano are the only seniors on the team, and Williams said with the way the young guys are playing, especially Ty Thornton, Wade Detillian and Matt Chartier, next year could be a different story.
“We can only go up from this year and I think we will next year,” said Williams.
